It feels a little surreal to finally publish my novel that I have been working on over the last two years. One Summer in Okanagan holds a very special place in my heart, as it is loosely based on elements of my life. I originally wrote this book for my own personal healing journey. However, while I was in the final stages of writing my manuscript, I found myself questioning whether the novel would help others who have been through similar experiences and traumas. From the guidance of one of my closest friends, I decided to publish it to help people find their own healing.
Trauma is devastating. I dealt with my own silently for over twenty years before I finally realized I needed to find a way to talk about it. I recognize that others are in the same spot, and it helps to know that we're not alone. In the end, I used my writing and imagined a world that was special. I escaped into it and I fell in love with the characters, the setting, the themes, everything. And ultimately, I created a book that truly changed me. I hope it will for you too.
